Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This activity focuses on first-grade phonics practice with three short word-family lists (–at, –an, –ap). Use the Reading Fluency page to listen to each student read the list aloud and note accuracy, smoothness, and pacing. The drag-and-drop questions check that students can recognise which family a word belongs to. No special materials are needed beyond a device to record and the activity itself. For the open-ended "Show It" tasks: a high-quality response for the drawing or photo/video shows at least three words from one word family and the student either reads them aloud clearly or labels them correctly. For the creative video/voice response, strong answers include clear pronunciation of chosen words and a simple sentence using each word (e.g., "The cat is on the mat."). Teachers can mark these open responses as correct when the student demonstrates accurate decoding and clear, age-appropriate use of the words.
