'Whale Done' by Stuart Gibbs- I Love to Read Month

Student Instructions

Author Stuart Gibbs read a comic scene from his book, 'Whale Done', about the corpse of a dead whale. Even though this scene was funny, there is a serious topic underlying it- the whale has died due to some sort of human activity and someone is trying to cover that up. 1. Tap add Add Response. 2. Read or listen to how humans are negatively affecting our oceans. 3. Use the label label tool to come up with a list of ways you can reduce plastic use. 4. Pick one way you are going to try and tap the voice speaker to explain your plan. 5. Tap the check green check to add to your Journal.

Overview: Assign this activity as a follow-up to Seesaw's I Love to Read Month virtual author event with author Stuart Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs read his book, 'Whale Done' and students learned about the negative affect humans have on our oceans. In this activity, students will come up with a plan for how they can reduce plastic use. How to Use This Activity: Students either read or listen to the text on page 1.
