Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This activity uses a short instructional video to teach how moving objects transfer energy during collisions. Students first watch the clip, then respond with a mixture of multimedia reflections and auto-graded assessment questions that check for understanding of cause-and-effect in collisions. Prepare a clear space if students record short demonstrations (partner tosses of a soft ball or toy car collisions) and optionally provide toy cars, balls, or blocks for hands-on extension. For the open-ended Think About It and Show It prompts, high-quality answers name a specific observation from the video (for example: "The runner stopped and Izzy started moving—energy moved from the runner to Izzy") and explain why that shows energy transfer. Good responses include a clear statement of what changed (which object slowed or started moving), a short explanation linking that change to energy moving, and, when drawing or recording, visible references to motion (arrows, narration, or demonstration). For the question asking what still puzzles them, a high-quality answer names a specific question (not just "I don't get it") such as "Why did the runner stop instead of bouncing back?" and may suggest a way to test or observe it.
