Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This activity teaches students the components of a healthy plate (vegetables, fruits, grains, protein, dairy/alternatives) and why each is important. Use food models, plastic food, or pictures from magazines for hands-on sorting. For the partner activity, prepare simple props: paper plates, markers, and cut-out food pictures. High-quality answers for the paragraph question explain the plate parts, give reasons for including each group, and include examples of foods. A strong multimedia response will show a balanced plate visually and explain choices (voice or text). Use simple rubric: correct (student names groups and shows reasonable portioning) or incorrect (student misses key groups or makes unhealthy recommendations).
