Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This activity helps first graders recognize 2D shapes and practice composing shapes to make pictures. Use Seesaw tools so students drag shapes, highlight outlines, and record short explanations. For partner work, students can take photos or record each other. You may want printed shape cutouts or a digital slide with draggable shapes for extra practice. For open-ended answers, look for students who correctly name shapes used and explain how they combined them (for example: "I used a triangle for the roof and a square for the house"), or who show drawings that clearly combine shapes. High-quality responses show correct shape names, a clear description of how shapes connect (side-to-side, on top), and reasoning about why shapes fit together. Give simple feedback and a chance to revise if a student confuses names or misses shapes inside a picture.
